The Rise of Workplace EV Chargers in the UK

As the push towards sustainability gains momentum, one solution is driving significant interest among employees: electric vehicle (EV) chargers at work. Offering the incentive of workplace charging is proving to be a powerful catalyst in encouraging the adoption of EVs, particularly for those who lack access to home or public chargers.

In the UK, the installation of EV chargers by employers has surged, with 48% already embracing this eco-friendly initiative. The allure of workplace charging lies in its convenience and accessibility, factors that were previously barriers to entry for many prospective EV owners.

This shift is particularly notable among young adults, as highlighted by a YouGov survey commissioned by CTEK. The study revealed that workplace charging is the most frequently utilised option among EV owners aged 18 to 24 in the UK, accounting for 40% of their charging needs. This demographic, often residing in apartments or rental properties without access to home charging facilities, finds workplace charging to be a game-changer in their decision to embrace electric mobility.

With workplace EV chargers emerging as a key driver in the adoption of EVs, the landscape of transportation is undergoing a transformative shift. As more employers recognise the benefits of supporting sustainable commuting options, the prevalence of workplace charging infrastructure is expected to continue its upward trajectory, paving the way for a greener future.
