The Porsche 911 Hybrid has finally arrived! The T Hybrid features several internal and external improvements across the entire range.
The new Porsche 911 Carrera GTS now boasts the Porsche performance hybrid system. This hybrid system is designed to reduce emissions while preserving the coveted 911 driving experience. Remarkably, despite the added weight of 50kg from the new hybrid system, it achieves a 0.4-second improvement in acceleration and offers a top speed of 193mph.
Porsche has rigorously tested the new hybrid system, covering over 3 million miles in development. Impressively, it has already lapped the Nürburgring 8.7 seconds faster than the current 911. The turbocharged flat-six engine has been expanded to 3.6 litres and optimised to accommodate a brand-new lightweight hybrid module called T-Hybrid. This system includes two electric motors powered by a compact 1.9kWh lithium-ion battery running a 400V electrical system. One of these motors is mounted within a new electrically assisted turbocharger between the compressor and turbine, replacing the previous GTS’s purely gas-driven twin-turbocharger setup.
The 911's classic design remains largely unchanged, maintaining its popularity. However, the front bumper is now more distinct with movable flaps and vanes behind the splitter for cooling and downforce requirements, and it features new matrix LED headlights.
Standardly a two-seater, the 911 can be configured with rear seats at no extra charge. It also now includes a fully digital instrument system and an upgraded 10.9-inch screen.
While the base Carrera Hybrid focuses on seamless electric integration, there are rumors of a broader electrified 911 lineup. Although a manual transmission might be absent in the base Carrera Hybrid, speculation suggests a potential powerhouse: the 911 Turbo S Hybrid.
